High Schools Across the Country Adopt Secure Transcript
as College Applications Heat Up

Docufide's transcript-delivery service gets widespread use as schools outsource the paperwork 13.7 million transcripts to pass from high schools to colleges this application season

The 2004 college-application season is here, and Docufide, provider of Secure Transcript(TM), the outsourced transcript-delivery service between high schools and colleges, expects a record-breaking year. The company today announced it has service agreements with high schools in 10 states covering 50,000 graduating seniors, and expects to double in coming weeks.

With schools overworked and under-budgeted, they have found that Secure Transcript is a proven way to off-load the transcript-processing crunch. Secure Transcript, which is free to high schools, has been successful in its deployments across the country in freeing up registrar time, saving budget dollars, and helping schools give peace-of-mind to students and parents during the stressful college-application time.

According to Docufide, over 2.4 million students each are expected to apply to an average of 5.6 colleges this year, generating a pool of 18 million transcripts, with the majority changing hands in just a few peak months between Thanksgiving and early 2005.

"We expect a record-breaking year for transcript processing, but the good news is Docufide is ready to help schools cope with the volume, and it is not too late to use Secure Transcript for this application season," said John Reese, CEO of Docufide.

"It costs high schools about $8 to send a transcript themselves, but by using Secure Transcript the average large school district saves over $100,000 a year," said Reese. For colleges, Mr. Reese said, "The savings can be even greater. It typically costs a college over $12 to receive and process a high-school transcript."

Docufide has earned the support of many state education systems, colleges and high-school districts, who are making the long-expected move to electronic transcripts. Docufide is the neutral third-party intermediary between students, their schools and the colleges they are applying to. Docufide's Secure Transcript service uses the Internet and proprietary data capture technologies to handle the ordering, processing and delivery of official high school transcripts either electronically or through the mail on security paper.

Michael Porter, Director of Information Systems for Antelope Valley School District, which includes 7 schools and nearly 3,000 completers, says, "Our registrars really love Secure Transcript because they are still the gatekeeper for transcript requests, but it's liberating them from the tedious tasks. Secure Transcript frees up our registrars to better serve students."

Many colleges now encourage feeder schools to use Secure Transcript. George Hudachek, Senior Associate Director of Admissions for the University of Minnesota said, "We're very interested in getting more schools on board, as we expect Docufide's electronic transcripts to save a significant amount of time for our office. We use an imaging system for application processing, and the electronic transcripts should not only save time on document preparation and scanning but should also be much more legible than scanned images of paper transcripts."

Secure Transcript fits students' wired lifestyles: the self-service Web site is available to students and alumni 24/7. The process of entering transcript requests is fast and simple, and students receive notification when their transcripts are sent, and when electronic transcripts are received by colleges.
