Los Angeles, CA, June 19, 2007:
Docufide, Inc. today announced the launch of the Minnesota
statewide e-Transcript Initiative; sponsored by the Minnesota
Office of Higher Education (OHE) and Midwestern Higher Education
Compact. The initiative will allow students at high schools and
colleges throughout Minnesota to utilize Docufide's Secure
Transcript services at a significant discount.
Students and alumni among public and private schools will be
able to order online and have their official transcripts
electronically delivered to any participating Minnesota college.
They will also be able to send transcripts to over 4,000 other
colleges and universities nationwide, as well as to 3rd party
destinations, electronically or on security paper mailed by
Docufide. Any college or university can register with Docufide
to receive transcripts in the format they desire for free.
Docufide has been successfully processing transcripts
electronically for high schools across 18 states for the past
four years.
"We are pleased to be able to simplify the process of sending
and receiving transcripts for our Minnesota students and
schools," said Susan Heegaard, director of the Minnesota Office
of Higher Education. "This initiative gives Minnesota the
opportunity to join other states in cost effectively
implementing a change that educators have long thought
important."
The Minnesota state participation agreement follows the award of
the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) Regional
Electronic Transcript Initiative (ETI). In addition to Minnesota
and Indiana (participating through a separate contract award
since 2005), several other MHEC states are currently considering
joining the initiative. Eleven states make up the MHEC region
and include: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan,
Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
A Cost Savings and an opportunity
High schools spend an estimated $6.70 per paper-based transcript processed. With an average of six
transcripts per student being requested, that adds up to over $40 per college bound student. Colleges
will also save money calculated at over $9 per incoming transcript.
Implementing an electronic high school transcript system region-wide to reduce such costs and improve
student's access to college was recommended by MHEC's Student Access Advisory Committee comprised of
professionals from the eleven MHEC member states. "This collaborative effort aligns with MHEC's
emphasis to maximize student's access to college," stated MHEC President Larry Isaak. "We're pleased
to see Minnesota sign-on," he added.
Technology solutions can help relieve the strain and provide the data for better informed decision
making. According to John Reese, Docufide's CEO, "Everyone sees the benefits in electronic
transcripts. The hard task, which we uniquely address, is being able to connect all high schools to
all colleges, independent of the student information systems they use, without requiring changes to
the existing systems. We are looking forward to working with high schools, colleges and universities
in Minnesota to provide their students with these and other derivative services."
Schools already using Docufide within the state
Eastview High School in Apple Valley, Minnesota has been using the Docufide e-transcript service
since 2004. "Docufide has been an incredible resource to our school," said Dr. Randall Peterson,
Eastview's principal. "The installation, training and implementation processes were extremely simple
and straight-forward. Customer service is exceptional and problem resolution has been immediate.
Docufide is sincerely one of the best technology/educational support organizations I have had the
pleasure to associate in my past 23 years in education," he added.
The initiative will be guided by a project advisory committee with expertise from OHE, the Department
of Education, the Minnesota Private College Council, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities,
the University of Minnesota and K-12. The MHEC office and Docufide are working collaboratively with
these representatives to implement and utilize the service.
